Letter of Solidarity

Dear survivors of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp and relatives of those persecuted under National Socialism, dear friends,

Since last Saturday (Oct 7, 2023), the world has been looking at Israel in shock, at the hundreds of victims of the Hamas massacres, especially at the Nova Music Festival and in various kibbutzim, and at the current escalation of violence. Some of you live in Israel and many of you have friends and relatives there whom you worry about. Our thoughts are with you in these difficult times and we wish you the strength that is demanded of you at the moment.

Since last weekend, we saw people celebrating these terrorist attacks in various countries, including Germany. This appalls and worries us very much. We condemn all forms of anti-Semitism. Our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected by this and we stand in solidarity with them.

We are all united by years of joint work against forgetting. All the staff of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial and the Foundation of Hamburg Memorials and Learning Centres feel for you and our thoughts are with you!
